are you an experienced painter or are you looking to get started? if you've got car experience, then it all translates to bikes - just remember that most parts are plastic or fiberglass. i finally got my act together and learned how to paint within the last year. while it has been a very rewarding experience, it has also been an expensive investment. your question about the wet sanding would depend on what type of paint you are using. with most modern paint systems, the actual painting and clearcoat stages are about 5% of the work - the remainder is in the prep. attention to detail is the key in the prep work, then spray the recommended coats of paint and clear (generally more clear than recommended actually) and that's it.
