With the O2 sensor off the ECU will not make changes to the fuel maps in areas where the a/f ratio is 14.57 to 1. Otherwise in those areas when running closed loop the ECU will trim the fuel map back to the 14.57 A/F ratio which defeats the purpose of adding a custom tune. With the O2 sensor not giving feed back I don't see a reason to reset adaptions however I am not entirely sure on this and I wouldn't rule it out as a possiblity if trouble shooting.
