Thought I would give a little update since several of you were so helpful in getting me started with Tuneboy and installing K&N's. All of your suggestions saved me a lot of time and trouble so again, thanks.

First, on Tuneboy, I did have a little trouble setting up communication with my ECU. I did have to change to Windows 98 emulation just to get TuneEdit to open. Then, it was a matter of selecting the right serial port to get it talking to my ECU. Even though I had the USB Tuneboy cable, I had to select the Tuneboy serial com and then select box 2 under that. Finally, the Download box would turn yellow indicating a download could be attempted. I then downloaded tune 20500_3 from the website, added that to the tunes in TuneEdit, and finally started the download to my ECU. The first time, the download timed out but when I tried it the second time, it finished downloading successfully. Later, I checked my ECU to confirm that it had downloaded the tune and it showed tune 20050 so I believe I'm OK.

Next came that fun task of removing all the existing air plenums and tubing. Actually, it wasn't as hard as I expected. Then, I installed the 3 RU-2780 K&N's. As Pig9R had suggested, I had also bought small K&N filters for the crankcase breather and the air temp sensor. I used the #62-1340 for the air temp sensor and the #62-1560 for the crankcase breather. If I'm not mistaken, this is backwards from the way Pig9R installed these 2 filters, but this way seemed to work very well for me. I still have to fasten the air temp sensor close to the first K&N RU-2780 and zip tie the MAP sensor somewhere under the tank. Then, I'll play around with modifying the BC a bit.

All in all, this mod has not been too difficult but, then again, I haven't fired up the bike to make sure it runs like it should. I'll plan to post a note on how this improved performance once I have a chance to check it out. I have a few other things I want to do first while I have all the covers off and the tank raised. Thanks again for all your help. --Ken B.
