My '01 used a quart every 2,000 miles for all of the 30,000 miles I owned it. Never saw a puff of smoke, blackened tail pipes, or gunk on the plugs. I just lived with it. Opening the engine up to reseat a set of rings seemed like way too much work for what I viewed as non-problem. Just look at it as a way to get fresh additives in on a regular basis in-between oil changes.
