But after looking at the ebay post of the item it would seem that kind of adapter could be sourced here:
http://www.mcmaster.com/
type in "long rod nuts" in the search box.
Might have to drill and tap for correct thread size but would save a bundle even if you had to use a heli-coil insert to get it done.
