Ok, now I know.....hit return when you don't know where the cursor is......and it posts.

A bit more river valley.

Lots of nice views along the river and I'd love to keep stopping for documentation, but may start running behind if I do. If you ever do this part of the country, try to make time to run it on the WA side on Hwy. 14....certainly more fun to ride than I-84 the maybe slightly less dramatic as far as the cliffs go.

I have a tentative first day goal of Pendleton, OR....which was the first stop on our trip to Yellowstone last year. That trip on the Bonnie and taking two lanes and goofing around a lot got us in well after dark. Using interstate and riding the Rocket more than makes up for the very late start and I managed a bit to eat in Pendleton and pushed on another 30 miles or so to LeGrand....not a huge gain, but enough to give me a good attitude. I jump off at the first exit so I can scope out the town more thoroughly as I pass through and find what I'm willing to bet is one of the better (as in cheaper) motel deals in town...the All-America Inn.

After checking in, I head up to the front to take the required (by the boss for her photo album) photo of the sign and get to watch a nice Beemer roll in.

She's a 77 w/ 16000 miles on the meter. Naturally I intruded on Jeff's (the owner) privacy and, after a bit of a clean up, we walked to town for a brewm, a bite, and a couple hours of great conversation. He's heading for Jackson Hole for a wedding and just got the bike in October from it's original owner.....lucky stiff....he probably got it cheap, too.

A fine ending to a fine day....all things considered.

It's late...I'll post more tomorrow.
