As stated earlier the lines are teflon lined stainless steel with a black rubber coating to prevent marring and it actually looks better longer.
I ride the fire out of my Sprint and it doesn't need a fork brace. Also the stock springs are just fine, even for mach1 driving. If you feel they are not right try adjusting the suspension before replacing it. Much cheaper and easier.
The Sprint is an awesome bike, hope you find one and enjoy it as much as I enjoy mine.
