Your sensor unit should be the ball in the tube design. quite possible it is stuck. May have to drain the tank and pull the sensor and try fiddling with it outside the bike.
If you get it out and find that the ball moves but still doesn't work, it could be toast. Should be able to use a multimeter and read the resistance on the leads as the ball rises.
