I've been running K&N's for 3 or 4 years on my RS, and for over a year on the D650. Others have used them as well with no problems. Also, you can go to any auto parts store and pick up a pack of 14mm crush washers for cheaper than your local MC shop.
Should also be able to use Purolator Pure_one #14610 (longer) or #14612 (standard) oil filters. I think.......
