An awful result to what was intended to be a great time.
I do some group rides. In fact there is one here this coming Saturday. People make mistakes in groups. And they make them riding solo. Group rides that are poorly planned and/or attended by riders who have no intention of following common sense, let alone the rules of the ride, can make group rides more dangerous than riding solo or with only one other bike.
But group rides can be relatively safe. When they aren't, Sue and I drop out and meet them later at the dinner spot. We had to do that last summer when we could not comfortably keep up with the leaders on the twisties.
Alone or in a group we MUST remember to ride our own ride and to never get sucked in to riding ourside our comfort zone to "keep up" with the pack.
My prayers are with those impacted by this event.
