Dyno, short for dynamometer; is test instrument used to measure performance of an engine. Basically, your motorcycle is strapped to the equipment and your rear wheel sits on a cylinder. As your rear wheel turns sensors determine the amount of torque/ acceleration rate, etc... and sends the data to a computer.
Computer calculates HP at a giving rpm or wheel speed while taking into account air temp, humidity & other data. Most dynos are capable of much more... calculating Air-fuel ratios, for example.
