I have a 02 Sprint and my crankcase breather is not pluged.There is no point in having a breather if it does not vent.At high rpm the oil froths and the breather allows the gas from this froth to escape.If the gas pressure builds up too high it will leak out of the crank gaskets.
My owners handbook says it takes 4 litres of oil with a filter change but I never fit over 3.5l.This is due to the fact that some oil does not drain out.
It helps it to drain if you get the oil nice and hot first.(but hurts removing the sump plug)
