Well, well mutineer, it seems we are running on parallel tracks. I am buying a Zumo 450 or 550 (not sure if I need the Bluetooth doo-dads on the 550 or not). I considered mounting it on a Touratech 1/2" crossbar with a locking cradle, but I also run risers, so I think the idiot lights would be blocked. I'm enough of an idiot that I still need those, so I may wind up just mounting it on the left bar.
Going with some sort of quick-release fabricated stem mount might be your best bet.
