Why! Why! Why! I just don’t get it. I ride a 1995 Triumph Thunderbird. I bought it used, with a shot motor. The timing chain cut through a tension block. The bike jumped timing and, well, did a lot of damage. I took the bike to the only dealer around me and spent 2 grand to get it fixed. I got it back and for the rest of last season the bike did not run right. I had to take it back several times and each time, no luck. The dealer keeps finding more and more reasons on why my bike is not running right; they say it’s fixed, I get it back and it still does not run right. They say it’s because the jets, air cleaner, and mufflers are not stock. The jets are 97.5, air cleaner is K&N and the mufflers are reverse cone megaphone. I see pics of lots of TB running jet kits and so on. So why can’t my dealer tune my bike to what it has already? Why do I have to spend more money putting all stock parts back into the bike? I just don’t get it. If any one reads this and thinks all stock is the way to go or if you think my dealer is taking me for a ride, I would like to know your opinion. Thanks Felix
My bike runs real choppy at low RPMs. It smoothens out at about 4000, so it’s tuff to ride when the speed limit is 20 to 25 mph. It pops and backfires a lot. I’m only getting about 25 mpg of gas and my exhaust smells like gas. It was doing all this the last time I put it in the shop and that’s when they changes the jets they were 110, and they put the 97.5 in, the shop manager tried to talk me in to stock pipes, air box, and jets, I asked them to tune it to what was in it and it’s still running choppy and sucking gas up. I’m at my wits end right now I love the bike and know it should run a lot better then it is well was I cant get it to start now and it’s going back in to the shop on the 17th, I’m no mechanic and I’m not sure if the dealer is robbing me with the now close to 3 grand I have spent (I just added all my receipts) and one more trip to the shop I pray I get it back right thanks for all your help. Felix
