Re gas puddling - if the bike is running right, then the solution is to always make sure the petcock is turned off when you get off the bike.

Re rubbers, you can quickly verify if they are the restrictive type by the dimples. You should be able to id these either visually or by running your finger around.

I'd say support your local dealer unless you don't get on with him? Otherwise PJ's, Great Bay and another that I can't recall right now offer good mail order. Also, bikebandit.com offer some OEM parts.
