Take texastri's advice on the gaiters, I did and I love them. Had not heard or seen the post regarding the carb boots, if they are cracked then they must be replaced. No jetting regardless of which type you replace with. They will cause you to run lean if they are leaking. Petcock issue you are going to have to be more specific. There are a few things that could be happening. Couple of suggestions, look at the fuel line first, if the carb rubbers are dry rotted then it may be also. Look at the bowls of the carbs for any gas stains, this would indicate possible bowl gasket issue or loose bowl. Be sure the bowl drain screws are secure. I suspect this first because another issue could be a float valve not seating allowing fuel to over fill the carb and run off the overflow. If the bike starts and runs fine then this would be unlikely. If it starts hard fouling a cylinder and that cyl is late in firing when the others come online, then I might suspect the float valve for that cyl. Good luck.
