When you fit the hugger, you remove the stock chain guard. The hugger has the chain guard built in. It will protect the shock absorber linkage and the piston itself. In my humble opinion it is a must if you ride in any sort of crappy weather at all.

It won't interfere with the oiler at all if the delivery pipe has been mounted sensibly. You can see some pics of the huggers in the Tiger Trails photo album at the top of the forum page
