If you are still sucking oil past the seal, I'll bet you deformed it during reassembly. I had to try it a couple of times before I got it right. I found it handy to expand the opening in the seal a little more with my pinkie. Just be careful not to tear it and allow some extra time (an hour or more maybe) before starting the bike.
