The female connectors are plastic, the males should be aluminium. Some fuel should come out as the seal isn't 100% tight. However, it shouldn't pour out. Sometimes the spring vavle gets hung up and will allow fuel to escape from the female side so just watch for that.

The dealer will replace the plastic elbow fittings for free, there was a recall.

Also make sure your connectors go to the right place. If they are aluminum, it should be mixed, red-white and white-red.
