I want to replace the stock rear shock on my '02 Sprint ST. I'm not interested in rebuilding the stock shock, so you're wasting your time if you are going to suggest that. I've heard good things about Ohlins shocks and I have been trying to find a Ohlins TR851 shock for months and months to no avail. They quit making them, apparently due to slow sales, and they are rare as hens teeth. Also, I did hear from someone a while back that Ohlins shocks tend to be sprung too softly for a bike with the rear suspension geometry of a Sprint ST. I suppose that could be remedied by going with a firmer spring at additional cost. I've looked at Penske shocks, but I've heard mixed reviews about them and they aren't much cheaper than Ohlins. Recently I was pitched a bunch of info on Hyperpro shocks. I did some checking (hyperprousa.com) and was very impressed with the extensive list of bikes they make shocks for! I mean how many suppliers are going to make a shock for a Norton F1! That fact would indicate to me that they have a company philosophy of supporting motorcyclists of all persuasions, not just the current high volume production bikes with their volume based profit margins. If true, that would be a selling point to me. Have any of you had any experience with Hyperpro shocks? Thanks for your time in responding!
