I went to radioshack and got a solder-on female plug that fits the male on my electric vest (gebring), and hooked it to the battery through an inline fuse. I then routed it under the fuel tank and clipped it to the tachometer bracket. I haven't had any problems with it getting wet, but i have a bubble fairing that keeps it dry. If i didn't have the fairing, I would have filled the wire end of the plug with hot glue and devised some sort of cap for the plug in end. The result works well, and isn't as fat as a cigarette lighter style, and plugs for that size are readily available through radioshack or similar. Do you mind soldering? I'd think that would be the deciding factor on which type to use.
