"Never say never" and all that...but...right now I'm with you, Kirk...
Thursday night around 11:00, I left work for home. It was different than the vast majority of my rides. At night, on the slab and no one around...
Simply...I was in Heaven. Just me and a beautiful bike and that luscious triple.
A few days earlier, Garry (see above) and I and a few others hit the WV twisties and I felt my bike was perfect for those roads...now I'm buzzing I-79 on an eighty degree night feeling like this beautiful beast could take me all the way to LA if I wanted...and right now!
No doubt other bikes will tease me. The Brutale is screaming my name....I'd kinda like a couple year old Ducati 900SS....TT600 would be great...Still have the hots for a BMW R1100S...and we have had track bike discussions in the Shootist household.
The RS styling will eventually seem quite dated. Will I be shallow enough to trade that away? I don't know yet.
But with the resale value on these not exactly being up there, my hope is that if other bikes come and go...the RS will stay...for at least as long as the lustful moments continue.
Kinda like the first year Miata I have. When I bought it in '89 it was the only thing like it out there. First there were imitators...then successors. Is it what I would buy today? Nah...but with a trade-in of about $4K at best...I'll keep my 30,000 mile mazda for as long as I can. Worth more to me than the money...and I still find myself smiling when driving it.
I'm planning on the RS doing the same for many, many years.
