My 03 doesnt have this and if it was connected to the airbox, I agree you can just toss it, but if it did route to the airbox, I would take a stab at finding where it did and taping up the opening.
the opening prolly isnt very big, but will definitely effect the amount of air entering the airbox and treak your mixture a bit.
