I would suggest that you take the hose and place it in the nearest trash container and forget about it. The newer Sprints don't have that hose. I'm not sure when that change occurred but on your bike there should be a nipple for it to slide onto the bottom of the air box. It is totally unnecessary for it to be filtered air as it is only to equalize pressure and doesn't go anyware (that is the air doesn't go into something that could get screwed up).
