I did my first oil and filter change last weekend, had 530 miles. Used the triumph Mobile 1 (4t ?, if I remember) oil. My gear changes were getting very notchy and clunky before the oil change. Now it is better, but still have a very noticeable clunk going into 1st, and slightly notchy through the gears. Before the change I actually found a neutral between 5th and 6th. Is that possible? I swear I was cruising, barely tapped it up into 6th, and there was neutral. I thought I did some thing wrong (brain fart with the clutch in and gassed it), but later that day did the same thing. It happened 3 times before the oil change. Hasn't happened since the oil change though.

Also, when I got the bike it seemed to have too much oil, I let it go thinking I was just going to have to figure the dip stick and bike position for correct reading. The bike did use oil on the run-in, but still read good all the way to 500 miles. When I drained the oil, it was right at 4qt. The manual states 3.2qt with filter change. When I changed it, added oil, I put in 3 full qt, checked it after running it for a few minutes. It needed the extra .2, so I added apx .2-.25. That gave me the perfect reading on the dip stick, with the bike level.

Maybe thus had something to do with the clunky & notchy feel.

Bottom line, the oil is right on now, but still have a clunky and notchy shift, but is some what better than before.

Any word, any like probs? If I'm hitting stuff from the FAQs, please refer me to links. Thanks all.
