A favourite short local route of mine (from Hall Green) is down the A435 to the A4189 near Redditch, west on that through Henley then cutting onto the single-track road past Hatton Country World then west on the B4439. Then across the old A34, past Earlswood lakes and home. A bit of everything from 100+mph if you want it to single-track dawdling. And it's completely different but equally enjoyable in the other direction.
