Tickets, something you may not have thought of. This same issue happened to me on my old Harley. I'd be riding along, then all of a sudden it would quit, no power whatsoever, not even oil or neutral lights.

Once I was on a freeway, and had to try and fire it up again on the move, whilst coasting out of the way of traffic. I left it in gear to help slow me down, but as I touched the key, it fired right back up again.

Problem was a bad ignition switch. I haven't replaced it, just squirted some graphite powder into it and it's been fine ever since.
