There was an interesting article/test in Two Wheels only several months back. I'll have to look around and see if I still have the issue. I pass it along to a less fortunate (read "cheaper") friend once I'm done.
Anyways, as I recall, the test was ridden by Jamie Whitham, a former racer that writes for the mag. He was able to beat the ABS bike in perfectly controlled conditions (it seems like they tested in wet and dry) by just a bit. However, the final conclusion was that for the guy riding in the real world, it was probably a very good choice.
