Favorite restaurant is Artisanal in Manhattan. Done up like a french bistro, and esp known for their cheeses. I had the most amazing skatewing there, w/ a sort of citrus dressing. They do flights of cheeses (as you might do a flight of wines) at the end of the meal. Also amazing champagne and oysters. I had my first (only!) Yquem there too.
But, for very favorite-est meal, can't really say. Depends on the COMPANY, mainly! I like everything from brown rice/ steamed veggies, to greasy burgers and fries, to local Caribbean cafeterias, to the full out, 6 or 8 course tasting menu, different wine each course, and ending up w/ espresso and grappa or cognac.
But I am partial to foie gras. Couldn't really get into the whole sweetbreads thing (sorry, welshrob), but for some reason the liver is to die for!!!!!
