'British entertainment - Is this common?'
Very. In fact, as a general rule it's downright vulgarian. But let's not go there.
Anti-american/anti-government? Sometimes, but no more so than in the USA itself. Indeed, there is a vein of anti-british sentiment that occasionally crops up in American entertainment that is equally ill-received on this side of the Atlantic.
'C'est la vie', as we francophiles like to say.
