Do as Redbird says ...leave them on .
remove the inside float bowl screws from the opposite side of the bike,much easier than reaching around.
you can also lay on the ground and look up after the bowls are off to see exactly where the main jets are (PROMINENT) .I've done this a few times and it was no problem.remember to use the wrench to hold the needle jet holder when removing the main jets.don't crank the jets on when installing ,just snug is fine.
