'Weakening the pilots'.....
....by turning the pilot adjusting screws in, to bring the previously over-rich pilot mixture down to the correct A/F ratio. If you look at the chart on the linked thread you'll see that the setting I had was a bit rich to begin with. It's explained in more detail in the last post on the thread.
