I always follow the tank sticker I max out at what it says in your case 7k but you can do that up through the gears as said before dont cruse along the freeway at 7k for two hours vary the revs, being new to riding and asking questions is cool we all started sometime. I would in your position leave the oil changing to the dealer you will have been told how many miles to the first service, book it early as trying to get work done at short notice is never easy, and its harder not being able to ride cos the bike needs its service but you cannot get into the shop for a week. You will not do any damage as long as you stick to the spirit of what the guy said but its not too critical if you go over the revs by mistake every now and then, some say use all the revs but dont let the bike labor in low gears and dont run extended periods at one rev say 7k. you will get somany different answers to this if you go back through the pages on this forum. Keep asking questions no one with any sence will flame you for being new. :-D
