When I got my D650 there was a sticker on the tank that had max rpms until certain mileage. i.e max 4000rpm for first 300miles. Is there not one on your tank? Basically you build the max revs you use as the milage increases upto the first 1000miles and then do what you like but DONT keep the same rpm for long periods i.e. don't go for 2hrs at 4000rpm , vary it a lot.
