If you let your bike warm up for 10 minutes, you're wasting gas.

As with most machinery, you can start it, then put on your jacket, helmet and gloves and ride off. Making sure you don't load it up too much, or over rev it too much until you've reached the normal operating temperatures. This would usually be within a couple of city blocks. I've got close to 70,000miles on my Speedy and it's been fine using this method.
