In brief I think whatever you buy should have some decent armour in it and be pretty slide resistant.
Most offs involve either a superman flight and a hard thump when you land (please try to avoid solid objects like trees) and lowsides often result in slides at speed on the bitumen which is why it essential to keep the skin covered.
