I've played with variations of "LOUD" on the Bonnie 790. From straight with 'Big City Thunder' baffles with fish tail tips (read HELLA LOUD AND OBNOXIOUS), to my converted D&D's with the Big City Thunder baffles and a JC Whitney at the end of the can.

I've concluded that the Bonnie's parallel twin DOES NOT make a pleasing tone if it's configured LOUD. I believe it's the nature of the engine. I like loud...... But the comments by others who have had to ride behind or next to me, were none too flattering.

LOUD does not equal 'sexy tone', at least not with the Bonneville's engine.

I got a chance to listen to ALL SORTS OF PIPE CONFIGURATIONS on at least 30 Bonnevilles a couple weekends ago, and what I suspected was validated by being an objective listener as opposed to 'from the saddle'......

For what it's worth, the Thunderbike pipes were the sexiest sounding but not very loud..... and I have a bias toward loud, but NOT in the case of Bonneville's parallel twin.
