I like the convenience of flip up full face helmets. I've owned several over the years, including BMW Sys 1 and Sys2, Shoei Duotech, and multiple Nolans. I do question the reliability of the locking chin bar, especially after reading a report in one of the BMW club mags by a member who hit a deer, went down, and apparently had the chin bar unlatch and pop open when he hit the pavement.

I'm certain some have better locks than others. I read a report several months ago that indicated some mfgs used metal latches, while others used plastic.

One of my Nolans needed to be sent back to the factory for repair, because although the locking mechanism clicked into place, it was possible to pull it open without depressing the unlock button.
