The variants that have balance pipes do seem to have a lot more clearance between the back of the sump & the centrestand lugs than there is on the Legend.
You may be right that the best option is a custom build with the balance pipe grafted in somewhere under the radiator.
I was hoping that I would be able to find out which, if any, of the first generation speed triple downpipes would be a pretty straight-forward fit.
