Well, I couldn't get my small finger or anything useful through the smaller hole so I've taken off the large cover and still can't resolve it. The lower crank sprocket and chain are still not accessable. I guess I'm going to have to go to the local dealer and see if I can talk a real mechanic into a house call. I'll let you know what happens.
