I had a job interview cancelled on me on Thursday, & got to feeling really down. By chance, I had seen a Buell ad on Wednesday that said you could get a free sling bag for taking a Buell test ride. Hmm... Depressed, free afternoon, get something free for riding a brand-new bike around for a bit... Umm, duh, no-brainer...

So, I show up at the local H-D shop & tell the guy I heard I could get a free bag if I take a Ulysses XB12X for a spin. He comes back real quick with the bag, but takes a little longer with the realease form, then asks for a copy of my license. He makes the copy, rolls the bike out to the sidewalk, puts the dealer plate on, turns the ignition on, & steps back from the bike.

I start looking at the controls, & he apologizes for not walking me through it. He starts explaining the switches. Meanwhile, I'm noticing that the switchgears are nearly identical to my Trident. By nearly identical, I mean they are the same except that there's no choke lever & no hazard button. Other than that, they are identical. Obviously the same design & manufacturer. He starts telling me what control is waht, & I nod along. He looks at the pass button & stops with a confused look. I say "That's the pass switch. I don't know what it does either." That gets me another confused look, so I let him on on the secret & tell him the switchgears are the same.

I thought it was pretty funny, & riding that Ulysses around was a nice little pick-me-up. (Though I would not trade my Trident for it!)

Cheers,
-Kit

PS: The bag's actually pretty useful, & the promotion's going on 'til June 30th at your local Harley dealer. If only Erik Buell would design his bikes around Hinckley triple motors instead of those Harley vibrators...
