So in the month or so that I have had my bike, I have been pretty paranoid about what's going into it (it took me three trips to the auto parts store and a post here to get oil I felt good about pouring down the pipe). As I have finally run through the full tank of gas I bought it with, my lastest bout of paranoia regards fuel octane levels. Let me give you the facts first: I live at 6700' and 91 Octane is as good as I can get in town (though I suspect I could purchase race fuel in Reno).
After doing some research here and on other sites it appears that perhaps the 97 octane rating the book calls for is based on a European standard Reserch Octane Number (RON) and that this is equivelant to the American Pump Octane Number 93. If all this is true (isn't everything I read on the internet?), then factoring in the lower oxygen levels at my altitude, Ishould be fine to run my bike on pump premium 91 Octane? Or is this all bollocks and I should drive down to Reno to find some race fuel? The website that was most helpful
is here a few of you have been quite kind in helping me work through my new owner nuerosis, thanks.
