A Friend had a similar problem, It took forever to find the problem it would always be working when looking at it. Finally found a bad negative battery cable. It looked good and felt pretty solid but power went on and off when jiggling it, then the end popped off in my hand.

Intermittent problems can be really hard to find, they always seem to work when trying to locate them. I usually look far anything obvious then start wiggling***** till it either quits or starts. Then you can trace it from there. Also I don't plug any electrical connectors together without a bit of di-electric grease.

Good luck, check out that negative cable, this one had cracked up where the terminal attached to the cable.
