Spooner Dude,
Ive done this mod on the same year model. Dont forget you also need to:
Turn all 3 mixture screws another ONE complete turn OUT to enrichen the mixture or it runs lean and the idle wont settle !
Replace the restricted Mikuni carb rubbers (with id dimple) for smooth unrestricted Keihin (CVK) ones !
I would have thought that 115# mains were slightly on the small side ive got #120 mains and only one copper washer under each needle.
Some folk who presumably live at altitude go to #125 or#130 but I would have thought they were on the big side.
Ive also changed the plugs for NGK Iridium ones and am happy ive got mine just right - smooth power delivery no flat spots and no popping !
By the way what is your VIN number and mileage (kmage) just so that I can plan my alternator bolt crisis later on !

That's right! I forgot about you and switching to Keihins!
I've done everything...my mixture is 2.5 turns out, the carb rubberettos are unrestricted (never had the restricted ones)..needed to get new ones for the Keihins though...different fitting.
It could be the jetting...it could be the exhaust pipe....or it could be the weather :hihi:
I'm thinking of getting a supertrapp muffler on her...and then head off for a dyno run.
I'm done shooting in the dark....turns out my butt-dyno wasn't very accurate :moon:
My VIN is 45970 (last five digits). My bolt must have broken off sometime last summer...I'd say I had about 16,000 miles on the speedo at the time.
The good news is it seems like an easy fix....I'd say 2 hours with someone assisting.
Let's rock!!
