Bluff, if you don't like the original switch Pendraig offers the best alternative. Not sure why you'd want to go to the effort to install an inferior mechanical switch. I don't even have a rear brake switch on my Norton (I took it off, it was junk) and installed the hydraulic version on the front master cylinder.

Is you system free of air? It might be a good time to do that service and change all of your hydraulic fluids if it's been awhile.
