I would like to get some information on this too.
My recent understanding has been that you don't want to go beyond the stock wattage because it will show up negatively somewhere else on the bike. The LED question I would love to hear answered. I remember years ago reading this was possible. I haven't searched on it yet though.
I do know that the 1.2 watt bulbs that are in the classics are available at auto stores as well.
I have two currently burnt out (high beam and left turn) but since I can't see them anyway in the day it doesn't really matter......sad huh?
