The big brown truck dropped off a nice set of EPCO SS mufflers last month. Of course, they got installed right away. No other mods - took it for a spin. No deceleration popping on the road, but blipping the throttle in neutral produced a fair amount of "cackle". Throttle response was slightly improved, and the mufflers sounded great.
Two days later, my son was moving the Road King around to get to HIS bike and dumped it over on Mr. Speedy. Well, I had the fender repaired and repainted (nice job) at the local body shop and got it back today.
In the mean time, I removed the snorkel, the air injection system, and installed a K&N filter. Also, SS clamps and SS allen-head bolts for the carb bowls. Left the factory needles and purchased one of those little D-tools to do the adjustments.
Factory pilots, 130 mains, needles are 2 1/2 turns out, no shims. Have not sync'd the carbs yet.
Did about 35 miles today on the completed setup.
Does not "cackle" anymore in neutral when you blip the throttle. No deceleration popping. None. VERY improved throttle response. Probably my imagination, but I think it's louder now, also. What a BLAST !!!
My wife wants to know if that grin is permanent. :-D
What shall I tell her? :lgh:
The other other KevinTell her you are sorry for leaving the AI on so long. Sounds like now I have to airbox/rejet. Darn.
