anyone out there got any crash protectors/bungs/bobbins/mushrooms whatever you want to call'em on a early 90s trip?

Since stripping down the d900 to a speed triple, i'm looking at getting some frame protectors.
with r&g doing some at around the 50 quid mark, and ebay listing some at 9.99 it appears theres a large range avaliable.

common sense tells me go with good brand (big price!) but

how good are they!!!???

heard stories of how well they protect casings etc in a load speed tumble, also heard that they can knacker a frame in a good smash!

can anyone share some wisdom!?

cheers all!
