Same idea as carbureted engines. Anyone with a sled or a dirtbike knows that. Trying to convince someone to hold the throttle wide open to start a flooded engine is hard to do untill they try it.
I used to be a boat mechanic and would go to a customers dock and start the engine that wouldn't start so they pay me 2hrs road time and I open the throttle and off it goes.
also on the no throttle starts, If crack the throttle and close it immediatly it starts WAY faster than no throttle at all. I'm talking just a crack and as soon as it closes it fires up.
