Don't take this to the bank, but you might get by with needle adjustment and leaning the air screw out. Denver is as high as I've been in Colorado and I'm about 2500 ft. here. 8000 ft. is pretty high, thats probably why you haven't got much feed back yet. Hang in, someone's probably been their and done that. '78's and 79's idled rich and ran lean from the factory I believe.
